Verstappen taken to medical center after heavy qualifying crash in Australia

Max Verstappen crashed heavily during Q1 at the Australian GP, prompting a red flag and a trip to the medical center. He has been cleared and returned to the paddock, but the incident means he will start the race from the back of the grid, breaking his pole position streak.

Max Verstappen's dominant start to the 2024 season hit a major roadblock after a heavy crash in Australian Grand Prix qualifying eliminated him in Q1 and sent him to the medical center for precautionary checks. The Red Bull driver will start Sunday's race from the back of the grid, ending his record-equalling streak of pole positions and opening the door for rivals.
